It’s good to see Wicked on the big screen again, isn’t it? The highly anticipated part two is here, and just like the first act, it is a total pop culture moment. With hundreds of official (and slightly off-brand unofficial) partnerships, it’s almost overwhelming how big Wiz-O-Mania has gotten this year. Before the Hamilton proshot, it was hard to imagine a movie musical becoming this massive of a pop culture moment.
If you’re anything like me, you want to go all in on everything Ozian. I’m incredibly lucky to be close enough to visit the Wicked Broadway Garden at the New York Botanical Gardens, and to fairly regularly walk past the Gershwin, but regardless of how far your home is, you can still have a wicked good time (get it?). Here are four ways to celebrate Wicked: For Good‘s release!
Green (and Pink) Elixirs
Want to have yourself a little mixer? Chili’s November marg of the month is a little, well, different; there are actually two! The green Witches Brew Marg with a tiny hat garnish. Pink goes good with green, of course, so there’s also the option for a pink Good Witch Marg with a tiny magic wand. At just $6 each, you’re sure to have a swankified night out. I tried the Good Witch marg when it first came out, and I can attest that it’s one of the strongest drinks I’ve ordered.
Looking for a spirited spirit-free option? I’ve heard select Chili’s locations offer non-alcoholic versions of their monthly margarita. Want something a little more work-friendly? Consider Dunkin’s Elphaba and Glinda refreshers with a themed reusable Munchkin tin.
Get Ready to Head to the Ozdust Ballroom (or Stay In, Shiz Style)
If you’re looking to add an Ozian touch to your holiday festivities, you happen to be in luck! Wicked: For Good has been dominating the beauty partnerships field with limited edition collaborations from everyone’s favorite brands. My personal favorites are Bubble’s lip balm set, REM’s collection, Scunci’s hair accessories, Wet Brush’s new patterns, and Ariana Grande’s spray pen duo. I also have a soft spot in my heart for Farmacy’s cleansing balm collab with the original Broadway production, a product endorsed by former Elphaba MK Morrissey.
Is staying in more your speed? Vera Bradley expanded its Wicked collection to include pajamas and blankets, and simply put, there is nothing cozier. Target and Cozyland also released licensed pajamas! If you need an addition to a well-themed night in, Build-A-Bear Workshop released an exclusive Wicked collection, complete with Elphaba and Glinda bears with coordinating outfits.
Make Time for A Good Deed
It’s only fitting to support Elphaba’s mission of advocacy and social justice! Volunteering at a local pet shelter, rescue, or park is a wonderful way to honor the Wicked Witch of the West’s commitment to animal rights and well-being. No matter how far you are from New York, you can support Wicked’s For Good initiatives, which partner with non-profits like Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the Broadway Green Alliance, The Trevor Project, and the Equal Justice Initiative. Especially as the holidays approach, there’s never been a better time to give and give back to your community.
Count Down – It’s Just a Clock Tick Away!
We can’t all travel by bubble to the New York City premiere, so make your countdown a little more wonderful! Add a little Wicked spirit to each day by making a checklist of everything Wicked you want to do (including listening to the Original Broadway Cast Album and rewatching part 1). Or, if you want to make your plans a little more formal, you can bring home the official Wicked advent calendar, or DIY your own!
I’m so excited to see Wicked: For Good! But first, I’d love to know how you’re celebrating this big release. Let me know in the comments below!
