FP Movement is easily my go-to brand for athletic and athleisure wear. But since I’m working full-time, in-person, in a business casual office, my athletic and athleisure-related purchases have to be adaptable to justify buying non-work clothes. Plus, dressing for seasonal transitions is tough in New York, so I hate to buy anything I can’t wear in more than one type of weather. It’s certainly not a hidden gem since it’s one of the brand’s most popular items, but the FP Movement Hot Shot Crossover Set has become a staple in my wardrobe.
Like most of the FP Movement collection, this set is super soft and wears well. Plus, the washed color finish only ages better with washing, keeping it in a relaxed but pristine condition. The material is thick and heavy enough to not be see-through and keep you warm on a breezy day but light enough to not make you sweat in heavy humidity. The pants have just enough shape to be unique and interesting but not over the top or distracting. I can’t forget to mention how deep and practical the pockets are! My favorite part, though, is how easy it is to mix and match the top and bottom. I’ve tried on so many sets, especially athleisure sets, that never quite sit well with other items. The Hot Shot, however, works just as well as separates as they do as a pair. If you want to wear it a bit more conservatively, you can size up, and the top becomes workwear-approved. If you stick true to size, you’ll get a really cute crop top that’s not too cropped.
I initially bought the set in navy last summer, but recently purchased a second in a maroon/burgundy shade when there was a sale since I find myself reaching for it so often. The Hot Shot collection has expanded into other apparel items, like a shorts set and a jumper, but I’ve personally found them to be a bit too oversized for my comfort and style.
I love that the Hot Shot Crossover set feels comfortable enough to be my go-to lounge-around-the-house outfit but is stylish enough to also look fashionable and put-together when I head out of the house. It’s easily the first thing I reach for when I’m packing for a vacation, too. It’s perfect for outdoorsy spring adventures with inconsistent or unpredictable weather or just hanging out with friends. At a price point just under $100 and with machine-wash care instructions, the FP Movement Hot Shot Crossover Set is truly the best set for spring.
