January 2024 Skincare Favorites

The cold, dry winter weather always makes a good skincare routine a little trickier, especially when trying to keep your skin hydrated. I’ve recently been working on overhauling my skincare regiment to phase out using more aggressive products that were starting to do a little damage, so I’ve been trying a lot of different products that would help my skin feel happy, healthy, balanced, and glowy. New year, new me, am I right? In just a few short weeks, I’ve already fallen in love with some of my new additions, so I knew I needed to share for my friends who are also looking to refresh their daily self care. Without further ado, here are the top five new additions for January!

Peach & Lily Glass Skin Serum

Everyone I know (on the internet and in real life) has been swearing by this serum for months, so I knew I had to try it when Ulta included it in the Love Your Skin event for half price. I absolutely get the hype and it’s become a staple in my morning skincare routine. I use one pump immediately after my toner and my skin looks so happy, healthy, and glowy all day long. Plus, I believe it’s also helped with some of the redness from post-acne marks. I never thought it would be possible for me to achieve the “glass skin” look with some of my scarring, but I’ve actually gotten compliments from my friends and coworkers about how good my skin looks since I’ve started to use this serum. Oh, and with how good all of the ingredients in this one are, it’s absolutely been my gateway into the larger Peach & Lily brand.

Peach Slices Snail Rescue Intensive Wash-Off Jelly Mask

I’ve been curious about snail mucin for years, but never knew where to dip my toes in. I’ve been using a stronger detox mask to help my skin since last year, but noticed that especially in the dry winter months, I needed a gentler mask just to refresh my skin. Enter this Peach Slices mask: the happy medium of my two wishes. The jelly texture does take some getting used to at first since it is pretty distinct, but the mask itself feels incredibly cooling and calming on my skin and even more relaxing to wash off. My skin immediately glows after use, but my favorite part is I don’t get any purging in the days following which is really uncommon for my skin. I’ll use it the night before an outing when I know I’ll be taking a lot of photos and it always does the trick!

The Creme Shop x Hello Kitty Celebrate! Brightening Serum

I cannot lie with you, my Instagram ads absolutely targeted me with this one. It popped up in my feed while I was traveling over Christmas break and it looked like something I might want to try (not just because of the packaging, but it didn’t hurt). I popped into Miniso right around New Year’s on one of my last days off from work and of course the serum was right in the middle of the beauty display. It was such a major score! I use this serum in my night routine before my moisturizer and it makes my skin feel so smooth and calm. The vitamin E firming beads are definitely a cute touch, but I do see a difference in the quality of my skin around where I have the most of my scarring and larger pores. This is definitely one of the most fun additions to my skincare routine, but it makes the same difference as some really serious products!

Murad Deep Acne Relief Treatment

Ulta Beauty Diamond Deals to the rescue yet again! I’ve been working on keeping my active ingredients limited to spot treatments or similar in an attempt to repair my skin barrier after using an excess of quite aggressive ingredients for a few months. This treatment ended up fitting exactly what I was looking for! I dip a Q-tip in and apply a thin coating just in the small areas where I’m breaking out and it helps clear my skin without aggrivating it – a huge improvement over other acne products I’ve used. I’ll often use this with the Hero Cosmetics Rescue Balm and the two together help even my larger breakouts completely disappear within days. I will absolutely be repurchasing at full price when I’m out of my current bottle!

Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Body Butter

I am a loyalist to Trader Joe’s beauty line, specifically the hand cream and the body oil. So when I got this body butter, I was excited to try it. I haven’t traditionally been a big fan of body butter since I don’t usually like how thick it feels, but this one melts right into my skin and doesn’t have the heavy texture feeling of other creams I’ve strayed away from. Plus, it smells absolutely delectable and it has glitter in it! My views on body butter have absolutely shifted because of this and I can promise I will be trying to pick up the future seasonal scents during my regular grocery runs.
