This winter has been particularly cold, and my bodycare routine needed an update to keep up. I have sensitive skin that tends to react poorly to sulfates, so I needed my products to perform well while still being sulfate-free. I’ve been finding a lot of luck with drugstore beauty products in my quest to combat dry skin. With just a bit of experimentation, I found a routine that’s made my skin feel happier and healthier than ever before! My wallet isn’t disappointed, either.

Dove Pamper Body Wash ($7.99)
Is it too much to ask for a body wash that cleanses but doesn’t leave your skin with that dry, tight feeling right after your shower? Or worse, leave you with clogged pores and itchy patches? Dove must have heard my call to the universe with its moisturizing body wash! This creamy lather is available in dozens of scents, which is wonderful for seasonal swap-outs and layering with other products. It has even been released with limited collabs, like Bridgerton and Crumbl! In addition to being super hydrating, it’s still lightweight on skin and not too heavy for warmer months. At just under eight dollars, it offers great value compared to more expensive brands, making it an excellent budget-friendly choice for everyday cleansing.
Tree Hut Snoopy Vanilla Shave Oil ($9.99)
Did I pick up this shave oil because it had Snoopy on it? Yes, but it is so much more than an adorable bottle. The formula has a unique gel-to-oil consistency, so it’s less runny than traditional oil but just as nourishing. The vanilla smell is sweet without being too artificial, plus, it preps my skin perfectly for my favorite lotions. I’ve noticed fewer ingrowns, less irritation, and less rapid growth since introducing this product into my routine, so I’m excited to try some of the other dozens of scents once I run out of this bottle!
Nivea Oil Infused Body Lotion with Vanilla and Almond Oil ($7.59)
Don’t get me wrong, I love oil products. I just don’t love how runny they can be coming out of the bottle, or how sticky they can feel once applied. As I was searching for a new body moisturizer, I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it be great if there was something with the benefits of an oil, but the feel of a lotion?” Nivea must have read my mind with their Oil Infused Body Lotion with Vanilla and Almond Oil. It comes in a pump-based bottle and feels considerably lighter than most other lotions, so it doesn’t feel like there’s a film or a residue as it absorbs into your skin. It’s also made my skin feel hydrated faster and stay hydrated longer than nearly every lotion I’ve tried. The scent is pleasant but light, so it’s not too overpowering and can be layered with other scented products or perfumes. If vanilla and almond oil aren’t your thing, it also comes in coconut and monoi oil, orchid and argan oil, and cherry blossom and jojoba oil.
Dove Beauty Exfoliating Body Scrub – Brown Sugar & Coconut Butter ($7.99)
Exfoliation is such an important part of any good skincare routine, but I’ve struggled to find a body scrub that didn’t irritate my skin. After having so much luck with other Dove products, I felt their exfoliating body scrub would be a safe next test. The scrub beads are embedded in a texture that feels almost like whipped mousse, leaving my skin smooth rather than itchy. Like its sister cleanser, this scrub is available in several scent options, including limited-edition collaboration lines.
After such a rough winter, I’m so glad to have found a routine that works for me. However, I still love to try new beauty products! Do you have affordable beauty favorites you think I should try? Let me know in the comments below!
