For me, vacation is definitely a time to binge and eat all the good stuff that I really shouldn’t be eating everyday. I do have a bit of a sweet tooth, so I usually opt for a lot of yummy desserts. Some of my favorite dishes are all located in Orlando, one of my favorite places to visit. As I’m starting to really dive into real school work this semester, I wanted to take a bit of time and think about some of my “addictions” to keep me going.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, Universal CityWalk
To be quite honest, I might actually be addicted to the milkshakes at Toothsome. They’re THAT good, and there are so many different amazing flavors. I’ve tried 3 or 4, but if I had it my way, I’d have tried all of them by now (it would probably take me a while though, they’re absolutely huge and are probably best shared).
Voodoo Doughnuts, Universal CityWalk
Good things really do come in pink boxes. Voodoo Doughnuts is a west-coast based small chain, but I am so thankful they opened a location at CityWalk. There are so many delicious doughnuts to pick from, but I usually get the Universal Creamsicle (yes, it does come on a popsicle stick). I’ve also had some of the holiday doughnuts, the Little Pink, and some of the chocolate-y ones, and they’re all so good. They make for a perfect breakfast before a day in the parks, or for a snack at any time during the day!
Amorette’s Patisserie, Disney Springs
I can NEVER go to Disney Springs without making a stop at Amorette’s. I always get the chocolate chip cookies and the Mickey-shaped brownies. I also fell in love with the holiday Yule log they had around the holidays, and the seasonally decorated macarons they have (which are usually on a lollipop stick, which makes it really easy to carry and eat while on the go).
Sunshine Seasons Grill, Epcot
Sunshine Seasons Grill is a great place to eat in Epcot, but the dessert section of the eatery always has such amazing treats. One of my personal favorites happens to be the Rose Gold Minnie Mouse cupcakes, which is as delicious as it is photogenic. You can also almost always find the classic giant chocolate chip and sugar cookies, which are definitely a vacation staple.
Roaring Fork, Wilderness Lodge Resort
Roaring Fork is a great quick service option at the Wilderness Resort, and they have an amazing bakery case! Over the summer, I got the yummiest giant macaron (and it was pink!). Back at the holidays, the case was full of festive and tasty treats for the holidays. Several of the options here are also location exclusive, which makes it even more fun. I always love stopping here for a sweet treat while I’m resort hopping!
Ample Hills Creamery, Disney’s BoardWalk Resort
If you want ice cream in Orlando, you HAVE to go to Ample Hills at the BoardWalk Resort (or at the new Disney Springs location, opening soon). The original location in in Brooklyn, New York, but there is certainly something more magical about the ice cream while you’re relaxing and taking a break from World Showcase. My favorite classic flavor is the Ooey Gooey Buttercake (its sooo good!). I also love the Sally Sells Sea Shells flavor, a location exclusive that’s essentially an orange creamsicle flavor with chocolate sea shells and all around delicious.
Swirls Ice Cream, near SeaWorld Orlando
If you’re taking a break from the parks and still want a sweet treat, Swirls Ice Cream is a good stop, especially for some late-night ice cream. Over the summer, I love to get a Dole Whip and watch the Electric Ocean fireworks at SeaWorld from the parking lot. They have pretty much every standard ice cream flavor and then some, and some really good looking sundaes, all at a fairly reasonable price.
While there are so many amazing places to get some sweet snacks in Orlando, this list is just a little tastingof some of my personal favorites. There are so many other great places for a quick treat in the area, but when you’re traveling down there for a short period of time, there are only so many stops you can fit in!
See ya real soon,
Toni
