Funko Hollywood might just be a store, but the flagship of the popular pop culture brand is more than just a shopping destination – it’s an experience. I’m a pretty nerdy person and I love my Funkos and Loungeflys, so as I was planning my trip out west with my family, the Funko headquarters retail store in Los Angeles was definitely a top priority for me.
When you first walk in, you’re greeted by a giant Groot Pop! and a Freddie Funko Hollywood box that you can step into for a photo op and become a Pop! yourself (but more on that in a little bit). As you wander throughout the store, you’ll discover dozens of life-size Funko Pops! and elaborate displays with some of your favorite characters from every fandom. There’s a waterfall display with Marvel characters; a street with a variety of Disney characters; corners for Disney Villains, Toy Story, and Jurassic Park; a hall for real celebrities and TV characters; a spooky area for horror (and similar) characters; and themed rooms for Guardians of the Galaxy, Disney Princesses, Harry Potter, DC Comics, anime & manga, and classic cartoons & food-related characters. Truly, if there’s something you’re a fan of, there’s a section of the store and a photo-op display for you and tons of hidden little details to discover.
The Funko store is absolutely an immersive display, but it is still a shopping destination. You can pick up Pop! figurines of all sizes, Soda figurines, Loungefly bags, Stitch Shoppe clothing, plushies, games, keychains, and apparel that’s exclusive to the store. The highlight of the shopping, though, is absolutely the Pop! People section of the store. In this specialty offering, you can design your own custom Funko Pop! and have it made right on the spot. In addition to lots of physical and apparel customizations, every Pop! comes with up to two accessories (there are tons to choose from) and one optional sticker pack. Plus, you can add on a pet for about five dollars. Each custom Pop! is about $25 and takes about twenty to thirty minutes to make once you print the order receipt, but be aware the wait to get to a customization station could be an hour or more (but the line is virtual and they text you when it’s time to come back)!
Between wandering around, determining what to buy, and making our own Pops!, my family spent almost two hours at the Funko Headquarters Store on Hollywood Boulevard. The Pop! People experience itself takes about five to ten minutes per Pop! to customize, and the rest of your time can be spent exploring the store. The Funko Hollywood store is located directly on Hollywood Boulevard and is about a block away from the Pantages Theatre.
Have a terrific day!
