French Beauty in Downtown NYC: Caudalie Spa

All the girls know that winter skin can be incredibly rough, and I’ve definitely been feeling it a little harder after a breakout purge from a failed test run of a new cleanser. I recently learned that French skincare line Caudalie has a spa arm of its brand, and there’s one location in the United States – perfectly enough, in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. I’ve been using the brand’s products for almost a year now and it has been such a saving grace for my skin. I absolutely swear by the Pore Minimizing Instant Detox Mask for a good deep cleaning and the Resversatrol-Lift Firming Night Cream to help the appearance of my scarring. It had been a few years since I had gotten a facial done, and taking care of my skin is continuously a high priority for me, so I booked an appointment for just after the holidays to try the spa out!

The spa is located directly across the street from the southernmost exit of the High Line, right around the corner from Meatpacking district landmarks like the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, the Whitney Museum, ARTECHOUSE, Jackson Square, and dozens of high-end retailers. If you’re coming from uptown, it’s just a few short blocks from the ACE or 123 subway stops at 14th Street.  When you first walk into the store, you’re welcomed into a cozy and relaxing space with displays of the full line of Caudalie products (far more than what’s carried at Sephora and Nordstrom!), a small coffee bar, and a seating area. I checked in with the staff and relaxed for a few minutes with a glass of water until my esthetician was ready to see me.

Once I was guided back to my treatment room, I was given privacy to remove my top and get comfortable on the spa bed. There was a convenient little closet behind the mirror for my bag, my coat, my shoes, and any extra clothing. Once my esthetician returned, we discussed the best treatment for me to get. I was initially considering the Vinopure Signature Treatment since I do have acne-prone oily skin, but since I use a lot of salicylic acid products at home, but we agreed on the Premier Cru Treatment which would be more calming and provide much-needed hydration. The hour-long treatment included cleansing and treatment using the Caudalie Premier Cru line of products, extractions, high-frequency (since we discussed my desire to have some focus on breakouts), and a hydra-gel mask. Meditation music was played throughout the session, and it was overall an extremely relaxing hour.

After my treatment was over, I was able to change back into my street clothes and take my time getting ready to go back out. Before I left, though, the associate at the register provided me with some samples of the products that were used during my treatment, like the moisturizer and the eye cream. I definitely noticed an immediate difference in my skin, but even for days after I noticed my skin looked and felt more hydrated and glowy. More than a week after my treatment, my skin still looked healthier than before and I noticed fewer breakouts.

My experience was so great at the Caudalie spa and I definitely intend to return! If you’re interested in learning more about the spa or the brand itself, you can find it all on Caudalie’s website.
